FinNode INDIA

FinNode India, part of the Finnish innovation network, connects experts and knowledgeRiku Mäkelä

between India and Finland to create innovations and to scale these innovations up to reach both developed and emerging markets. The main focus areas of FinNode India are cleantech – renewable energy and clean water, education and learning, healthcare and wellbeing, and innovations to base-of-the-pyramid markets.

Cooperation between Finland and India has a lot of future potential in research, development, innovation and business. Almost 100 Finnish companies operate currently in India. The number of Indian companies operating in Finland is much smaller.

Research collaboration does exist in small scale between the two countries. India is a country of big numbers. As a market, India is a mix of tens of millions of people in the rich segment, hundreds of millions in the poorest of the poor segment, and the rest of over one billion in between. India’s challenges are huge in the areas of infrastructure, water, energy, healthcare and education. At the same time, many Indian corporations and universities are amongst the world leaders in their sectors.

 FINNODE JAPANReijo Munther

Japan is producing together with USA 70% of the new patents in the world and  even in USA the Japanese companies are responsible of 60% of new patents. As emerging economies are running up Japan still holds it’s position as the Asian superpower in science and technology and is dedicated to hold this position by  investing nearly 4%

of the GDP in R&D&I.

High education level and inner market with over 100 million wealthy consumers provide a vivid market for new technologies.  This market is also extremely demanding , it is easy to say that if one succeeds in Japan then the quality is enough worldwide.  But besides direct sales Japan is more- for Finland Japan is a strategic companion in Asian activities as Japan is involved in all big projects in the continent.
