FinNode Japan – New Direction of Japan: uplifting developments and beyond

Almost 9 months passed since 3.11, Japan is now starting to seize longer-term of the effects and trying to open up new horizons of technology and life. While people’s mind and social behaviour are changing, the Japanese government reconstruction policy aims at new regional development for vulnerable people such as elderly and children, and innovative reconstruction targeting to be leading force in coming future. Movements of new industry/market creation and new approaches beyond conventional schemes have been encouraged in the fields of environment, aging society and education etc, in which Japan has started moving on to new phase for future solutions, providing inspiration to other countries.
 
Goal and strategic compliance

The goal of this project is to illustrate establishment of new government approaches like PPP (Public-Private-Partnership), special business zones in disaster areas, and collaborations beyond municipality boarders, as well as cross-functional cooperation with academic and research organisations boost up local regeneration with optimal combination, which substantially connects to the operation of Finland wellbeing centre R&D unit in Sendai, too, in terms of innovation centre functionality.

It will also describe how this shift has an impact to Asian economic value networks as a part of global networks, to find out business opportunities and trends.

Possibility to combine with Tekes Thinktank project in the fields of energy and environment, for deeper analysis on new, alternative energy technologies and business models. 

Relations to intelligent environments and vitality of people in FinNode strategy.

Main tasks:

• To describe government/municipalities new approaches, policies and projects regarding with reconstruction and regional innovative development, including plans of special business zones utilization
•Interview key players in the fields of new industry creation 
•To analyse cross-functional collaboration among different parties
•To investigate the influence of the disaster on Asian economy and global value networks
•To identify business opportunities and future outlook
