FinNode China 2012 - Digital Marketing in China B2B Sector

Short description of the topic

Young Chinese 15-25 years of age are nowaday very used to social media, receiving digital advertising messages as acceptable marketing means and buying consumer goods over internet and mobile B2C platforms. The idea is to study the development and effects of digital marketing in China B2B sector, and find out where the market opportunities exists for Finnish companies.

This project will be the continuation of our current FinNode project, Threats and Opportunities for Finnish Companies and Organizations in Chinese Social Media, and focus in the trends and opportunities in China B2B sector.

Goal and strategic compliance

Comprehensive overview on the current status of recent development of digital marketing in China, expansion to B2B sector, and to identify opportunities for Finnish companies.

Project’s goal and its compatibility with the National innovation strategy and with the strategic objectives of FinNode partners (i.e. Cleantech Finland, TIVIT, etc.), OSKEs, SHOKs etc.

Content

This project will describe situation in the development of digital marketing in China, expansion to B2B sector, and to identify opportunities for Finnish companies. The aim is to identify key effects and opportunities (immediate and future) for Finnish companies.

Main tasks:
•Overview of the recent development in digital marketing in China and expansion from B2C to B2B sector. What they look like now?
•Who is doing and what, why, when and how? Who are the leaders and players?
•Define what the ecosystem looks like, what are the business models?
•Identify the key players and influencers
•Identify the most promising market segment(s) for the Finnish offering
•In-depth interviews of the key players, what’s the market demand?
•Analysis and sense-making of the opportunities in internet of things and for the Finnish companies, Tekes Technology Program, Finpro and the Finnish innovation ecosystem.

Phase 1                       Kick-off meeting with related Finnish companies (Future Session I)
Identify study scope most interested and useful to Finnish companies

Phase 2                       Current situation study and information collection
Study the recent development in digital marketing in China and expansion from B2C to B2B sector, weak signals, ongoing trends, etc.

Phase 3                       Evaluation, analysis, market demand and trends in China digital marketing B2B sector

Finpro + Tekes interim review telephone conference

Phase 4                       Key effects and opportunities identification
- Identify possible effects on Finnish companies
- Identify opportunities of collaboration between Finland and China
- Identify opportunities for Finnish companies

Phase 5                       Reporting the conclusion and next step discussion
Finpro + Tekes study and open seminar to Finnish companies
